Congratulations to March Students of the Month.
Freshman - Nabila Anika

(nominated by Ms. Mench)
She is always prepared for class, she participates every day, and her tests and quizzes are outstanding (mostly 100%, but always A's). She even completed the optional extra credit for the project, even though she had 100% as a project grade. Unlike some students, she doesn't just complete the bare minimum required for an assignment; she works above and beyond the requirements. She is helpful to other students and always pleasant and polite. She's really a delight to have in class.
Sophomore - Erin Flanigan

(nominated by Ms. Eger)
She is coming during her study hall to mentor Amanda Carelli in a dance class. She works very hard every day in her own class and then gives up her study to help with Amanda during 8th mod - couldn't ask for a better student!
Sophomore - Nancie Giardina

(nominated by Ms. Tracey)
Nancie has been helpful in the TSA club this past month. She is very respectful and is in a class where the kids are not as behaved as she. She works diligently on her projects and I think she has stood out from the crowd such that she needs some recognition.
Junior - Keelin McGee

(nominated by Mr. Marascio)
This well-rounded young woman gave an amazing performance at "Poetry Out Loud". She also balances basketball and academics. This past month she has done the best in math in her whole high school career. Keelin is diligent, genuine, polite, and humorous
Senior - Phillip Wiesel

(nominated by Mr. Roesch)
I have had the pleasure of being his guidance counselor the past 4 years. He is intelligent, extremely friendly, outgoing and conscientious. Phillip chose to take on a challenging course schedule his senior year and is doing extremely well. Phillip has excellent organizational skills, which helps him maintain his grades, keep up with a demanding training schedule and excel in swimming. Phillip has had a very successful season in swimming. Due to his success he has had a great deal of publicity whether it was photos, interviews or articles in local papers about his personal accomplishments and contributions to the team. During interview’s Phillip though proud of his accomplishments was always humble and always spoke about his fellow teammates and the teams accomplishments. Phillip will graduate in June and will attend NYU next year. Though his records are posted on the record board in the pool area and someday may be broken, one record that will never fall is his record of being an outstanding person and student here at Mainland. |
