The Mainland Regional High School Computer Club donated a computer to Brandall Estates on Wednesday, October 15th. The students in the Computer Club received donated computers from Ocean City Home Bank at the end of last school year. With a generous donation from the National Honor Society at Mainland, the Computer Club members were able to purchase and install new hard drives for the donated computers. The Computer Club’s goals for the year are to continue to donate refurbished computers to the community, to encourage students that are interested in technology, and to hold a fundraiser so that they can continue with community outreach programs. The members responsible for this project are President Sal Palifrov, Vice-President Chris Jelesniaski, Secretary Kyle Schumacher, Treasurer Stephen Chan, members J, J, T, Dave Ju, and Computer Club graduates Hein Htat and Tom Fenwick.

| Mainland Regional High School held a Mock Election all day on Friday October 31. During this week students have heard campaign speeches and announcements for presidential candidates. Posters have plastered the MRHS hallways. Students will vote during an extended homeroom on Friday. Election HQs will be located in the Library all day. In addition, there will be an electoral college map located in the cafeteria and main lobby, which will be updated during the day. There will also be an electoral map on Ch. 2 |
Congratulations to Deborah Klipp who will be presented The American Red Cross Chairperson of The Year Award on October 23 in Philadelphia. Since 1999, Ms. Klipp has organized and facilitated the Blood Drive at Mainland Regional High School. During each of these years Ms. Klipp through her advisorship of the National Honor Society ran a highly successful blood drive. Over a ten year period 2117 pints of blood have been donated saving over 6251 lives. The number codes system the Red Cross uses at all blood drives was developed at MRHS. It is her efforts and dedication that the Red Cross appreciates and honors. |

| The Mainland Regional High School home tournament for competitive speech and drama will take place on October 25 from 8:15 - 6 PM at Mainland. Approx 14-16 teams from 7-10 schools will be involved. In the past, some of the best judges have been from Mainland's faculty and administration, as well as alumni students. Rounds are morning, early afternoon and finals (mid afternoon). Congratulations to Debbie Rogers, Mainland Regional High School Art teacher, who has a still life painting titled "Winter Light" in a Juried Invitational Exhibit at the Noyes Museum of Art in Oceanville. Another painting won the "Judge's Choice Award" ($150 prize) at the New Jersey American Artist's Professional League Members Exhibit at The Strand in Lakewood, NJ. Both exhibits will be on display until the end of October. |
| The National Honor Society is sponsoring a drive all this week collecting both old and unused cell phones. The cell phones will be sent to Cell Phones For Soldiers to help purchase pre-paid calling cards to the troops overseas. If you have any old cell phones, please drop them off at the collection box in the main office. |
