STEM for Change Club

The STEM for Change Club is a club that introduces students, especially underrepresented ones, to uplifting connections and greater opportunities in STEM. In the classroom, underrepresented groups (such as students of color, female students, and LGBTQ+ individuals, those with a disability) face implicit biases that discourage them from pursuing a STEM-related career. All students are welcome to join. Joining this club will help students learn to address these pitfalls and facilitate healthy mentorship between peers. The club’s main objectives are to encourage enrollment in advanced courses, host essential technical workshops, and provide exposure to various STEM careers.

Examples of what this club provides:
• Hosting industry professionals as guests speakers
• Networking opportunities
• Help with investigating and deciding on career interests
• Career-building workshops (ex. resume building workshops, GitHub introduction tutorial, LinkedIn profile creation workshop)
• Exposure to opportunities (ex. internships, STEM programs)
• Peer mentorship
